Watch the new video by Miss Vincent

On ‘How Much Further’, the first track to be taken from their ‘Reasons Not To Sleep’ EP, Miss Vincent build on their melody driven, atmospheric punk-rock. Already a stalwart of their live performance, the track goes a long way to break the South Eastern four-piece out of a potentially stagnant pool of contemporaries.

“It’s rad to play because it’s a good mix between fast gnarly stuff in the verse and a big anthemic chorus – and a big “whoa” section of course,” the band exclaim, referencing the track’s understated balance between up-beat melody and darker sound.

“Theme wise it’s kinda reflecting on that feeling of chasing shadows and searching for things that seem in your grasp one minute, but the next you’re wondering if they even exist. It came from a place where I was really struggling to understand what the hell I was doing with myself, that kind of feeling where you start to wonder whether life deliberately waits until things are looking up to bite you in the ass.”

The video matches the atmosphere of the track, and of it’s lyrical theme. “[It] was so much fun to shoot – we essentially took over this awesome big old manor house for the day/night and we just set the camera rolling,” Miss Vincent explain. “It was great for us having control over every aspect of it, because we could try out loads of different things. The video ties in pretty well with the lyrics too – the theme of searching for things that may or may not exist is a pretty good reflection of the meaning behind the song.”

‘How Much Further’ is taken from their forthcoming ‘Reasons Not To Sleep’ EP, out May 11th on Engineer Records. With more live dates in the pipeline, Miss Vincent will be playing the Fighting Cocks in Kingston with Calabrese on the 7th May 2015.
