Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Coming
I didn't say I wouldn't shake hands with a woooooman.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingOur completely bullshit idea of modern society, entirely shallow and fuelled by consumerism, assuming we're better than thouands of years of accepted cultural behaviour? Standard.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Coming
I don't like hugs. Human contact in general makes me retch a little bit. [/autism]
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Coming
You're a full on mental and I wouldn't hug you because of that alone.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Coming
hahahahahaha
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Coming
If refusing to touch a member of the opposite sex could be justified with any rational reasoning then yeah, sure.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Coming
greeting people politely isnt exactly a modern idea?
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingSo why is it a problem all of a sudden? You're religious. You don't think it's right to touch people of the opposite sex 'cause you're a fucking fiend and you might rape them after feeling the grooves of their palm. That's your belief system, and if you dig that, then so be it.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Coming
Because modern society is at least having a stab at women's rights.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingIt's not a problem, they're entitled to their belief system. But I wouldn't even countenance the notion it's a better idea than shaking someone's hand like a rational human being, no matter how 'fuelled by consumerism' the society that developed this crazy, affable behaviour is.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingModern society is a cunt. I bet it wears Wayfarers in nightclubs.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingWould you hug it when you greeted it?
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Comingonly if it was male
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingCouldn't agree more with Matt A. As a society, we're continually inventing new values and fucking off the old ones. We perpetually arrive at a final set of acceptable standards and behaviour, only to bugger it off as ignorant nonsense in the following generation. Morals work just like fashion, we latch onto new justifications, but it's all the same old bullshit regurgitated. Whether someone wants to use religion or science as a justification for their behaviour, I really don't give a fuck, I'm only interested in the actual outcome and how it fits with my own prejudice about how the world should be, which is pretty much how all morality works. Logical justification for self-interested desire.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingHalf these arguments don't even make sense. What the hell is going on in here?
Hugging girls is gay.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Comingmy favourite bit about religion is when people pick and choose which bits of the doctrine fit their own purposes. my second favourite bit is that numerous translations and changes to the texts means you can't even be sure that's what was written in the first place.
that said, if you followed any religious text to the letter you'd be very confused and probably quite angry every single day.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Coming
Tell your grandmother S'up.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingI want to move back to London. It's SUMMER so it doesn't need to rain every day. Especially when I want to put my washing out on the line.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Coming
err...it's blue skies?
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingI can't really see through the rain clouds but I don't doubt that you're right.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingProposed to my girlfriend on stage at Less Than Jake on Saturday, she said yes. I know I don't post much, but I'm in a 'shout it from the rooftops' type mood.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingI'm not suggesting she wouldn't have said yes in other circumstances but really public proposals like that always feel like a gun to the head sort of scenario.
Congrats by the way.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second Comingthis broad grabs the gun, turns it around and shoots the chump in the heart with it
at the end of the day, if somebody doesn't wanna marry you she ain't gonna say yes just because there's loads of people there. or if she's weak she might say yes and then break it off soon after.
Re: Love, Lust and Relationships - The Second ComingYeah, also there's the fact that she's been bugging me about getting engaged for a while now, I just wanted to find a way that was 'us' you know? Less Than Jake are a pretty big part of my life and so is she, so I had Buddy present the ring for me to give to her as a way of 'passing the torch'.
