I now (finally!) live in Cardiff. Found a nice house on the edge of Llandaff.
Can anyone recommend any pubs in Canton? I've walked past the Robin Hood on Severn Grove a few times, which looks nice but I was wondering if there were any other decent pubs I should know about.

The Corporation and the Canton Cross are both fun

It looks it! Since I've moved here, I haven't been to many pubs in Canton to be honest. Usually go into town. The beer yard at the artisan brewing company in Pontcanna is awesome though!

On a different note, can anyone recommend a place to get a decent haircut in Cardiff? Preferably somewhere that isn't going to break the bank but also isn't going to attack me with clippers

Might be a bit out of the way for you, but I used to go to a place in Cathays that was quite cool I think it was called "on the fringe".

Best pub in Canton is probably the Butchers Arms on Llandaff Road. I generally kill a few hours in Admiral Napier when I am about though mainly because it's cheap despite being a shithole.
Hate Corp.

Anything going on on Sundays worth bothering with? Staying after football for once and wouldn't mind a night out

Can anyone recommend a decent hairdresser that won't kill my bank account? Preferably in the centre/Cathays cause I haven't really ventured much further than there and don't really fancy getting lost.

Thinking of going to Cardiff for my birthday weekend in the middle of may. Had a look at the thread but what's good on Friday/Saturday nights?

Metros is an absolute dive filled with emo kids who get so battered the venue is obligated to hand out free toast at midnight.
The Welsh Club is the best alternative for a rock night. Or if you want to get pretentious and kitsch Buffalo, Ten Feet Tall or Cardiff Arts.

Obligated to make toast? Obligated? I didn't realise that grilled bread was legally mandated by licensing laws! The Welsh club is reet good.

Metros was 80p doubles in my first year. Then it went up to 99p, then it was 1.09 by the third year. 1.29 now?! I don't know if that liver destroying vodka is worth that.
Also the toast is only a starter before a heart clogging cheesey chips and gravy from chippy lane.

Lived in Cardiff for almost 7 years now and only been to Metros twice.
The last time is stank of vomit down one end.

One time I went to Clwb I made the rookie mistake of making Skittles vodka and drinking almost all of it in it's skittle flavoured form before I went, I do not remember this night and the thought of that purple flavoured skittles vodka still makes me shiver with fright, although apparently the bar staff wouldn't hand out any free water so one of my friends told them I was having a bad reaction to some Ecstacy, fuck sake.
