I'm not sure what makes Mojo a new bar, I'm sure that's been there for at least five years, unless it's moved.

I'm pretty sure Mojo has only been open longer than 18 months or so. I went there in December last year for a friend's brithday and seem to remember that it was pretty new then.

Also, definitely backing Kimos for a good place to eat. Excellent food for the price.

Kimos, yes! There is also another, smaller one, a little bit out of the way on Myrtle St. It gets a lot busier than the Mount Pleasant one though.

Eddie Rockets is the place to go when drunk though. The food is not great, and hideously overpriced, but knickerbocker glories and Buddy Holly on the juke boxes is always awesome.

I think the best places to eat out in Liverpool are on Lark Lane or Allerton Road. Easy enough to get to and from town from there too.

I went there sober with a few friends, as I love a bit of Buddy Holly so the combination of food and Holly was definitely appealling... will not go back. I now have a severe hatred for the place.

Yeah, I won't go there sober as I know that if I think it's kind of gross when drunk, it's probably absolutely vile. Still, there is no way it can be as bad as Ceasers Palace...

dont forget the egg cafe, which is the best veggie cafe in liverpool, just off bold street. Although they seem have lost their ethics as of late as i've seen the staff get their stock from corporate tesco now. As far as i know the guy who owns Kimo's has bought it too.

Mojo is def pretty new, about a year old or dk I'd say. There's one in Leeds too, are you thinking of mojo?
Anyone hear the rumour that there's gonna be s huge new wetherspoons in the rapid building opposite the bombed out church.

Also, wasn't saying the phil should stay open till 3, just maybe 12-1 on weekends like most pubs, it always seems to shut just as I'm starting to settle in!

it's a pretty good night, plays your standard pop punk/post hardcore/emo fare, and is normally pretty busy, but not so busy you have to queue for ages to get in.

And more importantly, not busy enough to have to queue at the bar for ages.

Bloody Christmas one did! Fucking moronic girls kept shoving in front of everyone as well. Whilst I don’t expect an orderly queue at a bar, physically pushing people out of the way is just stupid.

Great night though, the guy who runs it posts on here. Ste ME

The Barfly probably my favorite club venue, it's amazing when all 3 levels are open.

Can't see Shakedown ever realistically getting to that level!

It's basically just a pop-punk night in the downstairs bar. Cheap drinks, great music, good laughs.

is Disco Blackout on a Monday at Baa Bar still going? I used to quite like that, even though it was always dead. Good tunes and a bottle & shot for £2, surprised it never had a good turn out.

Aye, pretty sure it is. I've only been twice and had a great night both times so I dunno why I don't go more often.

Its not like there are any other good nights on in Liverpool on a Monday so I really don't know why it is/was always dead. Free entry too.

Also, reading the rest of the thread has reminded me of how good Hannahs Bar is. Two for one cocktails before 7 on a weekday too!

I've been a few times, not in about 4 months though. There have been 2 or 3 times I've gone and it's been rammed, but every other time it's been completely dead.

I used to frequent Hannah's bar when they still had the outdoors bit & a free jazz band. Nice.

Has the Barfly now become a tattoo theme bar called Ink? I'm DJing there in April I think.

Done a quick browse on most of those venues and can find hardly any gigs going on that are of interest. Am coming to work in Liverpool for 5 weeks so hoping to check out a gig in that time, any recommendations? Punk stuff mainly...!

Yeah, get the train to Manchester!

There's the odd Hardcore gig on by Video Nasties promotions, usually Bar Fresa/The Pilgrim - I think someone else does punk/hardcore gigs, but they're rare as fuck!
