Easiest way to sell lots of books and DVDs

Postby pennyroyal_teea » Tue Jul 03, 2012 8:48 pm

Having a clear out due to relocating in the near future. We've got a fair collection of DVDs and books so ideally need to shift them.

I've listed a lot of them on amazon using my seller account, but it's a bit hit and miss as to when you can sell them.
I know there's places like music magpie etc, but they pay a seemingly pitiful amount.

I could list them on ebay but then there's fees, unless ebay do a 'zero insertion fees' weekend.

I'm basically looking to quickly offload a lot of stuff and make a decent return.

Cheers

You're unlikely to make anything on the books as it costs so much to send them unfortunately. By the time you've added postage on cover those costs, people can generally get a brand new copy for the same price.

To shift loads of DVDs and stuff at once, CEX is probably your best bet. I don't know if they offer much though but it's pretty hassle free. It just smells really bad.

CEX is good. For the DVDs you'll be able to check the price you'll get online & it's hassle free. Either that or bulk sell on ebay but don't expect a great price.

The books. What do you have & what price are you looking for? Plus whereabouts do you live?

Equally quote a price for the DVDs.

Hadn't thought of CeX, cheers folks.

Will definitely check the prices I'll get from them.

If you can get yourself up to the Arndale there is Bee.com which guarantees to beat any trade-in prices from CEX etc. I got some great prices on my CD/DVD collection from them last summer, they were offering 5x the CEX price for some items - well worth a look.

May have to take a drive through to Manchester before I leave.

I am considering this, some of the prices are terribly bad though.

Colin, make a list of stuff you've got and I'll see if there's anything I'm into.

The prices are bad...but is the extra effort putting them on eBay or Amazon market place, wait for someone to buy them and then paying for packaging and posting really worth the pound or so more you'll get?

Another website to try is WeBuyBooks.co.uk (they also buy DVDs and Games). Prices are a little shoddy but meh see what you can get. And this voucher code will get you 10% extra: WBBBM2AYD.

Also, try the Amazon trade in for books too, sometimes they'll give you a fair amount.
