This is so true.

Wrong.

and how many times, dear sir, have you harbored feelings for a girl for months/years, not told her, blurted out one time while drunk and it's all worked out fine?

Out of the times that I've fancied female friends of mine and told them, it's had positive results far more than rejection. The best thing that ever happened to me came out of asking out a girl that I'd 'met more than 3 times'.

There's only ever been two times that I kept it to myself for ages. One time I eventually said something and the other I didn't. Thems were years ago though when I cared about getting shot down.

So basically, Lewis and Neil are good at picking up slags, but not figuring out if girls like them?

This isn't to say that I'm any good with the ladies or have liked a lot of girls, 'cos neither's the case.

I think I'm just fairly good at reading people. Plus I'm fucking awful at making a good first impression, since I ain't no oil painting. I've always tended to do better when I'm more comfortable around a female and can impress her by quoting TV shows and walking like a burglar.

All I was saying that months of being in a bad mood 'cos you're not sure if a girl likes you is months of time wasted.

My abilities or lack thereof re: picking up girls aren't in the equation.

Just that making oneself miserable over one girl for ages is a waste of time when your actualy chances of getting her to like you diminish exponentially if you don't get a move on.

You're right about that, it's just the 3 meeting thing that I was taking issue with.

3's a handy number, that's all, I wouldn't stick to that as a hard and fast rule, but to get the point of "stop following the girl around til she gets sick of you and get on with it" still stands.

It's a bit daft to outright discount the idea of being friends with a girl for some period of time before actually asking her out though.

Really? Don't you ever get to the point of "I've known her so long that I don't want to fuck it up by revealing that I fancy her?"

I certainly know if I fancy a girl within a few hours of her company. If I've known her for a couple years I'm not going to suddenly start fancying her. The only thing that'll change is that I might find out that she's actually open to being fancied, in which case I'll just be kicking myself for not making a move sooner. That's the wasted time thing again, there.

Nah, I tend to fancy someone once i've gotten to know them and are friends with them.

Plus i've been in a few situations where male friends have asked me out and although i've not been interested, our friendship hasn't suffered, it may have even improved cos once the awkwardness is over it's a lot more honest and everyone is relaxed.

I lived with a guy last year who asked me out just before we moved in. But we got over it, had a joke about it and now he's going out with my other housemate - they're really happy and they are both my two best friends.

I guess it depends on the people involved though. Some girls may not be able to carry on as friends like I am. BUT, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

My friend called me over the other night and said...'do you remember this guy from years ago?'

I looked at this guy and it felt like a punch in the face. The immense attraction. Normally it takes time for me to fancy someone. They kinda grow on me. But this was so completely different it made me actually feel faint. He didnt look like anyone else at the club. He dressed different and his hair was longish. Actually...he looked a bit trampy. But thats not the point. I felt like I had been hit. Not sure how he felt as I was sooo drunk I cant remember a single word he said to me. But I remember him holding my hand for ages and him dancing to DnB with me.

Then he disappeared and I never saw him again. Apparently he had been thrown out for headbutting someone. :?

Why do I always like people who are TOTALLY unsuitable for me?

Theres worse I found out about him too. But I cant really go into that. Its quite bad.

But yeah...Jules. Biggest idiot ever when it comes to men.
