The only beer on the menu is a cracking choice. It looks pretty neat inside too.

Off to London this weekend for a Ceilidh on Friday and then some drinking with Becca (and anyone else who fancies joining us) for the rest of the weekend. Thames festival sounds like it could be fun.

Never heard of it. Thames fireworks will definitely be better. Are you boozing too? Text us if so.

I got kitchen drunk last night. That's when you drink a couple of bottles of wine each while gossiping/chain smoking in the kitchen with the extractor fan on, and usually Lily Allen or The Kinks on full blast. Every Thursday.

Incredibly I don't feel hungover/still drunk this morning!

I'm hoping to do this tonight. But with better music choices.

It's on Steelhouse Lane, by the courts. Owened by the poeple who run The Victoria and Island Bar, downstairs is similar to those and quite small and pubby, upstairs is a Victorian style Gin Parlour.

My mate played an acoustic gig there. Didn't think much of it at the time, will have to give it another go.

To be honest unles you go to Gin club I don;'t really see the place as being that different to anywhere else, but I really liked sthe courtyard and they serve decent beer and they were playing really good soul all night.

Just like the Victoria with a courtyard then? Not a bad thing. Art pubs really are the in thing around town/for a night out at the moment.

Victoria can be full of wankers occasionally though, and when I say wankers, I mean retail/fashion wankers. A fair few drink at the Sun on the Hill, my mate works in that pub though so it's not so bad, cracking pub for pre drinks before a night out I find.

Being an utterly miserable old sod I often find the Vic a bit too busy for me. Plus guaranteed to run into the girl who broke my heart there.
People keep telling me to eat burgers at the sun on the hill...? On that not though, Jekyll and Hyde have an exotic burger week the week of my birthday: only question is, venison or crocodile?

Decent beers? Please elaborate.

Nice chilled out pubs are hard to find I feel and 'fashion wankers' will be anywhere that is deemed in or cool.
This place sounds worth the effort to at least check out. Where is it?

Lagers such as San Miguel and Staropramen, real ales from Purity brewery, whose Ubu is lush. It's steelhouse lane, not far from the children's hospital and the C.I.D. Although why anyone should know where that is I haven't a clue.

Yeah, the burgers are good at the sun on the hill, also it's buy one get one free on a Saturday which is the clincher. It's owned by the executive chef for the Metro bar and grill chain, and all the chefs work at Metro also or have done in the past, so it's quite decent pub food.

Crocodile.

Easy. Take someone with you, you order crocodile and the other person orders venison and eat half of each.

Yeah I know exactly where you mean now. Definately going, just looked at the website. Wish I worked in a pub like that, dammit!

Springbok burgers aren't that great so wouldn't bother with.

I fully back this. Except I don't/can't drink gin. I love the Vic though and the cocktails they make at Island are lethal.

I've only ever seen the Sun on the Hill absolutely rammed or completly empty. Saw a 37yr old (she told me her age, I'm not sure why) in there the other day, properly greyhound and pulling an 18yr old. Gross.

Can't wait to have a drink tonight, been such a long week.
