Hopes - FFO "girly riffs", Touche Amore etc

Postby scattered » Thu Apr 07, 2011 10:52 am

Posted about this in the Manchester Bands thread and got some fairly positive feedback and a couple of shows out of it, so thought I'd try our luck trying to get a few more people to hear it :)

New(ish) band, played our first show the other month with Gravelines and some other rad bands courtesy of Rosie. Next one is ManchFESTer 1.5 at the end of May (hopefully recording another song or 2 before then).

FFO: Touche Amore, ETID, La Dispute, MLIW type stuff, but not particularly sounding like either.

Demo is available to download for free from the facebook page, or from http://www.purevolume.com/hopesband.

Thanks for the replies.

We wrote a new song the other week and recorded it on my phone so we could all remember our respective parts. The video was done in a quick take and not for the purpose of showing anyone, but things are a little slow at the moment so I thought I'd stick it on here!

The phone tips over just as it gets going (ironically where I hit a duff note) but you can still get the impression of what we're going for.

Quick bump.

We're all out of shows at the moment and would love to play some more. If anyone can help put us on somewhere we'd be massively grateful!

Quick update:

We've been added to the Feed The Rhino/Heights show in Manchester on September 18th at Satan's Hollow.

This is a pretty big jump for us, and we're all bricking it massively, especially being the only Manchester band on the line-up (and by far the softest!) :insane:

If anyone is already going to this, pop down early. If you aren't planning on going to it, get Heights' album, change your mind, and come down early.

We recorded a couple of tracks the other weekend and are currently waiting on getting the final mixes back. Things have gone super-quiet on our front for the last month, so we tried to cobble together a quick preview thing of one of the tracks.

As you can tell, I have no idea how to use video editing software... but gave it a bash!

Proper bump coming when the tracks are up. Thanks for taking the time to check it out, much appreciated.

this band's new EP is really awesome - if any promoters down london/kingston way would want to put you guys on i could make sure you had a roof for the night.

Quick update.

Playing Leeds at The Well on Saturday (7th Jan) with a tonne of other bands - it's a fund raiser for the venue, a good cause. We're on first at 1:30pm then later on theres Heart in Hand, Heights, Martyr Defiled, Landscapes, Grader and more - would be awesome if anyone going comes down early.

Then we're driving back across to Manchester straight after to play The Roadhouse. The show in Manchester is free!
