Re: The Last Film You WatchedCaught up on 127 Hours last night. Probably nothing new to add, over all it was pretty great. I get massively put off by Danny Boyle's more overbearing stylistic choices (that god awful, not proper slow motion effect is the worst and the opening scenes were nearly unbearable), but it's to the credit of Franco's performance, the details of the true story and the near perfection of some scenes (the fast track back to the Gatorade in the truck, the torrent of water and the 'detachment' scenes in particular) that overall it was a riveting watch.
Re: The Last Film You Watched
I agree! It was just so lovely that I managed to overcome it.
Re: The Last Film You WatchedWatched 'The Chaser' last night. Really good. It portrayed the Korean Police as a right bunch of hapless idiots. I wonder if thats actually the general consensus of the police over there?
Re: The Last Film You WatchedMad Detective - A nice little offbeat spin on the usual police procedural. Felt short at just under 1 hour and a half, and I would of liked to have cared a bit more about the main character.
Hardware - A little boring to begin with until the killer robot gets loose. I like the punk style, entertaining enough. Melancholia - Loved it. One of the few films I have the urge to watch again immediately. Plus Kirsten Dunst's boobs.
Re: The Last Film You WatchedMan, Melancholia was fantastic. I did the exact same thing and watched it twice in a row. Think it's about time for a third.
Re: The Last Film You Watched
Hardware is my favourite Christmas movie.
Re: The Last Film You WatchedPS. I went to a screening of the remastered Four Flies on Grey Velvet tonight. It's funnier than I remember, both intentionally and not, but a great watch especially on the big screen.
Re: The Last Film You Watched
Got the blu-ray coming next week, haven't seen it before so I'm looking forward to it!
Re: The Last Film You Watchedwatched Innkeepers. Fairly slow paced and could have done with a few more scares. On to Human Centipede II next
Re: The Last Film You WatchedI really want to see The Innkeepers, but I've got no on demand services and I'm sure it's not out on dvd or in the cinema anytime soon. House Of The Devil was one of my favourites from a few years back so excited for this.
Re: The Last Film You WatchedSaw the Big Lebowski for the first time the other night. Was raving about how awesome it was for ages so I agreed to give it a go. Queue two hours of me not laughing once. Just an awful film. If I was high I'd probably like it. But when I was high, I thought Dude, Where's My Car? was genius so that's not saying much. I don't know how anyone can get any pleasure out of this, let alone it being a cult film.
Re: The Last Film You WatchedYou're wrong and you're a grotesquely horrible freak

Re: The Last Film You WatchedThe Descendants - Thought it was really good, but the fat kid ruined it somewhat.
Spoiler: show Definitely enjoyed it though, I'm just nit picking really.
Re: The Last Film You Watched
Christ, you have truly horrible taste
Re: The Last Film You WatchedPeople seem to be rabid mad on it, but I don't get it at all. They walk around into implausible situations and proceed to be really thick and hapless. Reminded me kinda of Kevin Smith, except I find his films reasonably funny. I could not wait for the Big Lebowski to end, from start to finish it was incredibly tiresome.
Re: The Last Film You Watched
I wouldn't trouble yourself. It's paced like HotD but with no pay off. I hope Ti West is back with something better soon.
Re: The Last Film You Watchedhuman centipede 2 is one of the worst movies i've ever seen. some of the worst "acting" in a film.
Re: The Last Film You Watched
I think it is getting a general release sometime this year (Feb or March I presume) so look out for it, I'm not sure how wide the general release will be though. I enjoyed it for the most part but some bits in it: Spoiler: show looked and felt quite amature compared to how well made House of the Devil was made. Still worth a watch but, in my opinion, it isn't as good as HotD which I also absolutely loved and thought was the best FrightFest 09 film.
Re: The Last Film You WatchedLimitless was a decent watch, despite the at times sickening cinematography.
Re: The Last Film You WatchedWatched Deathrace 2000 earlier, just for laughs.
Re: The Last Film You Watched
Where were you sat?
Re: The Last Film You WatchedGoing back over some old points from the last few pages.
I absolutely love going to the cinema, and feels it's a lovely event. But then I only ever go to the Picturehouse chain cinema in York (mainly shows more independent film). I've never been annoyed by the crowd in there and I love that I can take wine in with me. I'm a member so it makes a ticket £6 and I go loads more than I used to now it costs less. It's also got a lovely cafe-bar Oscar nominations: I think The Artist definitely deserved so many nominations, it was absolutely lovely, and a brilliant idea. I thought Werner Herzog's Cave of the Forgotten Dreams should have been nominated for best Documentary as it was one of the best uses of 3D, and was brilliant. I was surprised We Need To Talk About Kevin wasn't nominated for anything as it was abrilliant adaptation of an excellent book with great acting (in both main and supporting roles), definitely one of my films of last year. I was surprised Melancholia wasn't nominated for best cinematography, as I really didn't like the film much but the cinematography was beautiful. Think I might see The Descendants tomorrow, or Sarah's Key which the cinema are showing as part of Haulocaust Memorial Day, but I guess it depends how I'm feeling mood wise!
Re: The Last Film You WatchedPosh cinemas are class it has to be said. There's one near my cousin's in Edinburgh where waiters bring you glasses of wine while you watch the film. They had a premier for something or other at it once and we saw J K Rowling and Sigorney Weaver heading in. It was the best day EVOR.
