Advertise Your Gig Section

Hey guys, can't think of a fairer way to do this. I know that the advertise your gig subforum thing has been a bit "controversial" since I did it... here's the first of a few things I'd like to get you guys to vote on for the "future of the forums". I'll be running this til Monday, so please vote if it's important to you!

Put your two cents below if you like! If there's other forum things that you want addressing that are nothing to do with this, please use improvements or PM me and I'll get democratic about it with another one of these!

I'm actively focusing on improving the forums over the next few months, so please be constructive.

Personally speaking I much prefer the way it currently is. It means I can search by geographical area and if I happen to be venturing to a different area I can go to that particular section. Don't see any problem with it at all.

Agree with Colin, makes it easier to see if there's anything on if I'm travelling somewhere I don't usually go/if I'm bored during the week where I am.

is it not possible to do both? have it so that you click into the "advertise your gig" forum, and then there's all the different regions listed as sub forums, but at the top there's one sub forum just called "all areas"? and just make it so that what ever's posted in a regional bit is added to the all area bit? even make it so that you can't make new topics in the all area bit so that it does keep it still separated into the areas.

i have no ideas how websites work, so sorry if that's a stupid suggestion.

A lot of the gigs listed seem to be either London or North. As I live in the Southwest, I don't need to look at those at all and it's easier for me to just see when the Southwest one has been updated.

Just stick them in with the music forum. Combine all the reviews/recommend/gig list threads

Yeah leave it as is - I've actually used it far more now I can narrow it down to the area I'm in and not have the page flooded with a different thread for every date of a 7 date south coast "tour".

Geography is really good for separating stuff out, I like that when I wake up in the morning I can't see Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower and the Humber estuary all at once.

Please don't just have a music forum that contains reviews, interviews and gig advertisments. That would be fucking awful.

i'd prefer giving the choice over everything to be honest. it'd be great if i could add a User Control Panel thing with a Yes/No option. Though it'd probably take people about six years to find it.

This is definitely the best solution.

If that's a no go, I preferred it when everything was listed as one. Maybe try and make rules for titles though, so they all follow the same template.
