I've been watching man vs food all weekend. I wish I lived in America. I would eat all the chilli cheese dogs all the time.
Same here.
Main thing keeping me in America. Hmmm, now I want one for dinner.
if i lived in the US I'd eat Denny's every day....

Oh fucking hell. Isn't that like saying "in England I'd eat Wimpy everyday"? Fuck Denny's. It's all about the little mom and pop greasy spoon style shithole on stilts that puts 100 different spicy things on everything you order including your diet pepsi.

No, it's NOTHING like saying you'd eat at wimpy every day!

Yeah, Denny's is amazing, I could happily eat there every day. Although I'd probably alternate and eat at other diners every other day

I found Denny's really dull when we went, compared to all the great places that were basically one off's.

I can't speak for most of the menu as I think I had the same thing every time, the spicy cowboy chopped steak, but that was fantastic. We did go to some other great places too but Denny's compared pretty well to them

Denny's is average but 24 hour so sometimes ends up being like a kebab house.
I've done 4 MvF places in the Kansas/St Louis/Chicago and New York.

The 'haystack' sandwich at that diner next to Niagra Falls on MvF looks amazing. Would eat.

Got some Pastítsio cooking today. This time instead of a Béchamel sauce, I'm using Greek yoghurt & feta. My kitchen smells pretty special right now.

You can just make chilli cheese dogs. It's easy.
There was some talk of us maybe opening a mobile Mexican/American food cart selling hot dogs and tacos and stuff. I think we have shitcanned the idea now, but I fucking love cooking Mexican food.

Obviously it's easy, but it's also obviously not the same as eating them out of paper in a box on stilts.

Today for lunch I tried a new pancake recipe. 1 scoop of protein powder 2 eggs 3/4 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp baking powder 3 tbsp water Squirt of vanilla flavouring Mix it all up, shove it in a pan, cook like normal pancakes. Came out looking exactly like pancakes. Smelled a bit eggy while cooking so I was worried it was gonna just taste like an omelette but it didn't at all. Texture was great, maybe just slightly firmer than a normal pancake. Taste was pretty good too, if a little plain. I buttered them and sprinkled with splenda. The mixture made 2 big, pretty thick pancakes and was really filling. Macros for the whole mixture are: 30g protein 1.3g carbs 23g fat 328 kcals Oh, I used milk protein rather than whey, and it was a plain version. Will definitely be making them again. And last night I made up a tuna bake thing with whatever ingredients I had in. Basically: a tin of tuna all mashed up with a big dollop of philadelphia and chopped red onion - spread that mixture on the bottom of an oven dish. Top that with grated cheese. Then add a layer of grated chilli cheese, and then a layer of parmesan. Ovenate it for about 20 minutes and you have yourself an awesome dinner. Next time I'm gonna put brocolli in it and maybe tomatoes and sweetcorn. Soooo good.

In a polar opposite to that "delicious" read I made brown shrimps in spiced butter with asparagus and a poached duck egg for dinner the other night. Really quick and simple, tastes far more impressive than the effort.
Also went to spuntino again the other day. Mac and cheese and market greens washed down with bourbon and lemoncello instead of pudding, when already a bit drunk, is a great thing.

All of this sounds delicious anyway, but particularly so compared to the preceding post. I imagine that tinned tuna baked with red onion and cheese tastes pretty salty, due to the tears of sadness.

You've never heard of a tuna bake/casserole, or a tuna melt sandwich/panini?

Being able to put something on bread or pasta doesn't make it an appealing idea for a meal in its own right. Pesto on its own or a bowl of cheese and pickle would also be a rubbish dinner. It wasn't the combination of cheese and tuna I was questioning (though four types of cheese is probably excessive), it was the idea of that as a meal in itself.
It was just a joke, I don't know why I did it because now I'm going to be told the exact nutritional value of every mouthful and then I'm going to kill myself.

Doesn't a tuna bake usually have pasta in it?

I'd initially said that it would be like eating a bowl of peanut butter and jam, then I realised that sounded delicious. Only I wouldn't dirty a bowl. Maybe not a spoon either.

Peanut butter and jam on alternate fingers. But when I lose my hands to type 2 diabetes, then I'll use my face.

At my old company we got fresh bread delivered every day, plus the kitchen was full of jars of nutella and jam and peanut butter. Naturally we decided that carbs were bad so ate nutella by the spoon. diet tastic.
In better food news, I got some tiger prawns reduced at tescos today. currently marinating in some lime and garlic and chilli. pretty excited to eat them.
