Good band and a shame if they call it a day then. Also, that interview is just generally an embaressment.

It's hardly challenging to take sly digs at a band while trying to come across as chummy with them

Basementbaiting, now that is something which should be illegal.

The thing is, if you've ever read Faye's interviews you'd see that she asks fairly challenging questions to lots of bands which makes a lot of them very interesting to read.

I guess if you don't recognise this I can see why some people might see it as a bit harsh, especially if you have people on here saying 'she was mean' and then you can read the questions with your mean glasses on deliberately trying to find ways you can interpret it as mean, but otherwise compare it to other interviews and it's not harsh. Like someone said, it's refreshing to read that rather than 'who are your influences / what's the craziest on tour story / how's the tour going' etc...

And I don't see how asking questions about the previous band has to be interpreted as something insulting - like Pants said people change styles all the time - does it make it a bad thing? Does it make it something people have to pretend never happened?

Successful-ish UK exports with a connection to hardcore but still in this underground-ish bubble will always polarise opinion - it happened to Gallows, it happened to Enter Shikari and it happened to Bring Me The Horizon. Eventually, people stop caring and get on with their lives.

Again, the new band really sounds good - I hope there's some music up soon (I was just shown a youtube clip)

You can try and dress it up however you want, however your point is basically made void when she comes into a thread about them going on hiatus and proceeds to post pictures about how happy she is about it...

Maybe, but I'm solely focusing on the interview, which was conducted a year ago (?) before this thread was brought into the world and said GIFS were posted.

That interview is fine isn't it? I've just read it expecting some kind of Jeremy Kyle drama and.... it's just an interesting interview with some standard questions. I'd certainly want to know from an interview why I should listen to Band A over similar sounding Band B.

On the other hand, I just couldn't get into the Basement album.

I really like the majority of Basement's output but I've never managed to see them live yet. Not really sure how that happened despite them being 'dial-a-support' for lots of other bands. Anyway, this is a shame as i liked Basement and wanted to actually see them at some point. Oh well.

There's nowt too bad about the interview is there? There's no fireworks or beef involved. Hype interview did not deliver.

Faye. wrote: I actually came away telling people 'Yeah, fair play, they seemed like decent guys.' But then their attitudes and actions towards me following shows I went to and then to my friends and shit, just confirmed their prickishnes

Pretty sure this is the difference between Faye being indifferent about the hiatus to her being not so indifferent. Having witnessed first hand how they've acted towards her, I'm not surprised.

The interview gives them a chance to address all of the points made which they did fairly well but they have fucking rotten attitudes.

i don't think the interview was really built up to be full of beef, it's just douchey questions imo. any one of them on their own is fine, it's just 4 or 5 in a row that makes the interviewer come off as mildy cretinous

all seems a bit desperate in here doesn't it?

one of the better UK punk bands there has been in a while musically, i must say they did always separate theirselves from the UK scene somehow though which is something i never understood as a promoter, why they didn't go out with more punky bands from the UK il never know..

felt like they were from a different scene at times..either way shame to see them go.

I never get why people complain about bands attitudes and shit like that.
They play music, you listen to the music, you either like it or you don't. End.
Who they are off stage shouldn't effect your judgement on the band.
Most of the time it massive misunderstandings anyway that people seem to take personally.
