He's playing the ODIs now. To be honest though, he's never been much of a test player.

I agree. If Gayle played all 3 tests over here I think he would be lucky to get past 50 once.

His last 2 tours in England he averages ~27 with a highest score of 54 in 12 innings!!

Don't get me wrong he is excellent in the shorter form of the game on a flat track but over here playing test match cricket vs Anderson/Broad/Swann etc, he doesn't stand a chance

I went to Edgbaston yesterday. It was an amazing day, every year I go it gets drunker, sillier and more enjoyable. I think if Anderson and Broad had played we would have got West Indies all out for a lot less yesterday, Onions and Finn are both really good but they're nowhere near the standard of those two yet. If England had kept hold of their catches too it could have been a different story. It's been great entertainment today and only one team can realistically win it now. It would be quite nice for the Windies to get one win.

FL T20 started yesterday. I work for FL and am presenting the MOTM award at Hove tomorrow (It's on Sky if you wanna have a laugh at me).

Really hope it's a Hants player as my boss is a big Sharks fan and I'll hear no end of it if I have to give Wright, Yardy or someone a big oversized cheque.

Actually, it's never gonna be Yardy is it?!

Terrible to hear about Tom Maynard, hit by a tube last night and killed :-( very sad news for all cricket fans. He was having such a good summer for Surrey too.

Devastating news, as a Welshman and Glamorgan fan it's an awful loss. I remember watching Tom smash a Lashings team to all parts as a 16 year old playing in his Dad's testimonial match, and almost single handedly win a game for Glam at the Oval the season before he left to join Surrey. I'm truely gutted he's gone. RIP.

Pretty good knock from Morgan there to take us up to a defendable target given the quality of our attack and the fact that the weather was so bad this morning.

Don't think much of the Aussie bowlers, any of our 5 would walk into that team.

Zero fucks given about England tonight, it's all about Glos beating the Scum by 9 wickets.

I think the best domestic game I ever went to was when the Brown Caps got that highest ever 50 over score against Gloucestershire - 496. Benning and Brown, first wicket stand of 300 odd. Amazing match.

Terrible and freak injury, ruptured eye ball from a bail hitting him from a wicket, to Mark Boucher means South Africa are a bit of an easier outfit for us next week.

Yeah maybe, I don't really rate him with the bat though and AB is more than capable with the gloves. Mark Boucher was never going to be the South African player we need to be worried about this year. Stupid injury though, I feel for him.

Amla first South African to reach 300 in tests, fantastic knock. Anytime he gets to 40 then that's it, he's in forever.

Trott's just gone so we're going to struggle a bit now. I suspect we can bat through tomorrow though for the draw. Can't lose anyone else tonight.

Went to Cheltenham today, Gloucestershire were dire but I drank a lot. Finn bowled extremely well, expecting to see him next test.

We were over confident going into the match off the back of the stonking we gave Australia. I think the embarrassment of how easily SA handed us our arse will make us play better in the next Test. Pietersen needs to remember he has quit one day cricket and start playing like a test batsmen also Bopara has had his last chance in Tests and should just stick to ODIs

4 seamers, brave. This has to be the least anticipated test for a long time. The organisers should be shot for putting these on in the middle of the olympics.

Yeah it is dumb. Although the olympics is very south centric. Is that why they played the Oval test first? I thought the Oval was always the last venue of the test summer.
