I usually go caving at least once every two weeks which is a huge workout especially if it's your turn to carry the ropes to the cave. Caves are usually half way up hills so often a hike up ingleborough with full on caving gear is a good warm-up before we even start!
Once a week we have a 2 hour training session in the sports centre where we have ropes rigged up to practice going up and down and changing over. On top of that I also often go climbing at the indoor wall. I've got a skipping rope made out of a bit of climbing rope but as the weathers been rubbish I haven't used it much, when it gets nicer I'll do some skipping too.
Definitely agree with this. I prefer to do something like badminton, because then I don't notice I'm running around, I'm just concentrating on destroying my opponent. I just can't ever see myself finding the gym fun.
I'm planning lots of sporty things for the summer: more kayaking and rafting which I'm super excited about. And if my mate doesn't go travelling, I'm hoping he'll give me a couple of surfing lessons, though it'll be freezing in the north sea.

I'd love to do some kayaking and rafting again. I've done it a couple of times at the watersports centre in Nottingham, maybe I'll see it if I can do it somewhere in the summer. Have you ever been to the massive International Climbing Centre/Adventure Centre in Edinburgh? It looks really amazing and I really want to go sometime! Might be a fun activity for you for the summer

The one at Ratho? No I haven't! My friend goes and loves it, but I think it's quite expensive so I've never gone with him. That's absolutely a good shout though, I'll have to put some pennies aside and whack it on my to do list. Will let you know if it's good!

I'm destined to be a fat, ugly prick even if I try to rectify my fitness and attractiveness. So I see no point in the gym. I'd love to play football every day but I have no friends who like playing football.
The idea of going to the gym depresses me. Oh look, some self pity, I think I might have a paddle in it.

yeah i heard that too, that it takes time to notice a difference. when i lost y first stone i didnt notice, apart from the fact that my stomach was flatter, then after about 2 months i suddently dropped a dress size, it was bloody excellent.

yeah same here, makes me just think why do i even bother. i'm going to try and go on the scales less to avoid disappointment. maybe once or twice a month. but my curiosity always gets the better of me.

i weigh myself once a week but should really get out of the habit of doing that. also you're supposed to measure your hips and waist and stuff with a tape measure cause it's more accurate or something. i've lost 2 inches from my hips since going to the gym but still no weight! going to the gym in a bit actually..

I'm sure boxing gyms are the most motivational places ever for working out, but I would feel so intimidated just walking into one

They are the best things in the world ever. The one I go to is right next to a "travellers" camp site if you will and alot of them go in. All the employees are really friendly and everyone else just keeps themselves to themselves basically. I would strongly urge anyone thinking about it to go.

I fucking love the gym, but I don't have access to one currently. I'm trying to keep a good shape with a fairly extensive regime, but living in a tiny flat with 4 other people makes it difficult to find space. I also find that since I've stopped taking extra protein, my size has diminished slightly. I also miss my rugby, which is a bitch, but boarding has benefits too.
All in all, I love exercise.

i cut down how much cereal I have each morning (full bowl->half bowl),
cut down crisps & sweets i eat (mccoys & twix a day--> scotmid own brand crisp every 2nd day)
and walked to the shop further along the road.
I've pretty much dropped a trouser size in just under 2 weeks.

I hate my self Image and really want to do something about it but I severely lack motivation.
I'm inducted at the uni gym and never go
I'm a member of the uni swim team squad but I cant find the motivation to turn up to training session and I bloody love swimming as well.
I seriously wonder what is wrong with me :/

You need a kick up the ass Seriously, getting to the gym is always demands so much motivation, but it's so enjoyable once you're there and puts you in a good mood.
Go, go, go!

I've been a member of a gym for a while and go as much as I can but lately I'm never in London due to having to sort stuff out elsewhere. Classes are the way forward though to keep up motivation...Body Pump and Body First are the best 2
Gonna have to actually cancel my membership today and try and sort something else out once I've moved. Hopefully I'll actually get round to joining back up!

i joined the gym about a month and a half ago...
i go 4 times a week and then go kickboxing once a week.
but yeah since i've been going i havn't actually lost any weight. even though people keep saying i've got quite slim. I guess it's all gone on muscle. which is good!
i feel better for it. but god, the gym is boring. and i swear i'm the only one who ever works up a sweat in there. what's it with kids who go on the treadmill for 10 minutes on a speed of about 3mph? i mean what is that actually doing?
LAAAME!

I've never really liked the gym either (its a bit boring) but I joined my uni one in January and I've gone pratically everyday since. My friend who goes with me has done like every martial art in the world and hes ridiculously fit so just trying to keep up with him makes it a bit of a challenge.
In the second week I noticed my weight had shot up like 8 kilos, its balanced itself out now. Anyway its been really good for me, I used to struggle to wake up in the morning and have no energy but its the complete opposite now. I'm never gonna go without regular exercise again.

If I were to start going to a gym, it would be purely to build muscle.
But just working out alone wouldn't do it, would it?
I have terribly skinny wrists

Despite being a boy and it possibly not applying to me i really hope it does and i'll start noticing some difference soon.
I've been going about twice (occasionally thrice) a week since december and i haven't noticed any difference yet, i really go for it as well! Granted i haven't cut back on the occasional crap that i eat but i haven't actively been eating more and i'd hope it'd even out!
I don't really give a crap what i weigh, i just want a flattish stomach and minimal lovehandle-age, lets see those sexy results yo!

There's not really much you seem to be able to do about skinny wrists. They're all tendon and very little muscle so there's nowt to go all bulgy.

Its lots of weights stuff really. You just have to start off really light. Its painful but it does get easier the more you go. Least you come out feeling like you've actually done something.
They have the exact same programme for 3 months at a time with all the same songs so you get to know whats coming next and how high you can go on each track.
