Ben Weinman of Dillinger Escape Plan launches Party Smasher Inc

By Ben Tipple

Ben Weinman, guitarist of Dillinger Escape Plan, has joined forces with a number of key players across various areas of the music industry to create Party Smasher Inc. What began life as an indie record label back in 2009 – home of the band’s ‘Option Paralysis’ and ‘One Of Us Is The Killer’ LPs – has now evolved into a fully fledged platform for independent artists and taste-makers.

By joining together musicians, photographers, illustrators, fashion designers and other industry figures, Party Smasher Inc is a support network for those with a unique outlook on their art.

“It happened because we ignored the rules,” Weinman explains when concluding his welcome piece on Party Smasher Inc by discussing Dillinger Escape Plan’s big break. “For the first time in my musical trajectory, I was creating without the idea that there was a right way or a wrong way to do things. No two people are alike. No two people have the same exact cultural influences. Art is not a two party system and never should be. It wasn’t until I started living my artistic life with that mindset that I became a responsible creator; one who could move people through honest expression. And that is what Party Smasher Inc. is all about. We are here to celebrate the artists who are out there creating responsibly. Following their own path, undeterred by the trends.”

Party Smasher Inc will build a portfolio of advice columns, resources and best practice to help emerging talent across the industry. It aims to put the unique visions at the forefront, and to ensure that new and exciting talent is pushed ahead of a possibly stagnant mainstream.

All the content is aimed to provide an insight into areas of the industry which people are aspiring to. Party Smasher Inc aims to give guidance, information and support so individuals and bands can do it for themselves.
