Fit For Rivals reveal ‘Hit Me’ video

By Ben Tipple

There’s a little Brody Dalle in Fit For Rivals vocalist Renee Phoenix’s gritty screams. Having released their debut album, ‘Steady Damage’, the four-piece have gone on to support the likes of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Framing Hanley and Hoobastank, although their style would lend itself more to grittier punk bands.

On ‘Hit Me’, Phoenix’s vocals are brash and raw, underpinned by a definite rock and roll swagger. Of the video, Phoenix told Revolver Magazine: “This video for ‘Hit Me’ was inspired from the original ‘Godzilla’ and ‘Attack of the Forty Foot Woman’ films. I wanted to combine my love for vintage sci-fi movies and my passion to empower women. Being a girl in the music industry can be tough, and my message in this video is to show just because I am a woman doesn’t mean I am anything less. I can rock just as hard, get back up just as many times as any dude–and still look good doing it.”

Fit For Rivals are set to release their sophomore album, entitled ‘Freak Machine’, in early 2015 via Big3 Records and Sony RED.
