Paremore’s Hayley Williams will be receiving the ‘Trailblazer’ Award at this year’s Billboard Women In Music Awards.
Williams will be honoured for breaking conventions at the ceremony on the 12th December 2014 in New York City.
It marks the first time the Trailblazer Award has been handed out, with the ceremony now reaching it’s ninth year. Other winners include Taylor Swift for Woman of the Year and Ariana Grande as Rising Star.
“I can remember a time when I would’ve been made fun of for doing things differently. Now Iām getting an award for it? This is too much. Iām so excited!” says Williams. “There are women in this industry who totally bulldozed walls down for the likes of me to come along and do what I believe in. I want to be that for even one girl in the future. I can’t wait for the event next month and to high-five some of my sisters in music.”
