The Selecter announce UK tour and new album

By Ben Tipple

Coventry 2-Tone ska legends The Selecter have announced an extensive 22 date UK tour, including their biggest ever headline show at London’s KOKO.

The band will be releasing their new album, ‘Subculture’, later in the Spring. The record marks their third studio album since reforming.

“We are great believers in calling things ‘as we see them’,” iconic frontwoman Pauline Black explains. “We realise that Ska/2-tone was, and still is an umbrella for many subcultures. This feeling of inclusivity is reflected in ‘Subculture’, which seeks to celebrate our diverse musical influences – from Soca & Calypso, to Reggae, to Electronica – and reflect the concerns and tastes of the subcultures that readily embrace them. We deliver songs that are unafraid to discuss the current situation in the Middle East, the intricacies of sexual politics, or the violence of social unrest.”

The Selecter have enjoyed appearances at the Glastonbury, Coachella and Isle of Wight festivals since reforming, as well as a host of tours across the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
