Tom DeLonge to release ‘Poet Anderson’ live action short

By Ben Tipple

Having recently revealed he believed blink-182 to be holding him back from his creative endeavours, Tom DeLonge is adding to his repertoire with a live action short based around his ‘Poet Anderson’ narrative.

Set to be exclusively premiered on the 13th October 2015, the short film features Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey. The Grammy Museum in downtown Los Angeles will be the first venue to host a screening.

The film also features Dylan Sprayberry (Man of Steel), Taylor Spreitler (Melissa & Joey) and Samantha Logan (The Fosters).

The animated version of ‘Poet Anderson’ has already secured the Best Animated Film award at the Toronto International Short Film Festival, centering around a Lucid Dreamer who can access both the Waking and Dream Worlds.

Telling a different tale to the animation, DeLonge has described the film as “a brief and modest look into the mythology of the Poet Anderson universe. Meant to be a bit ambiguous and artistic, the plot traces the edge of a girl having recurring dreams of a boy at her school. While the dreams are romantic, fun and adventurous, a real threat exists requiring someone there at all times to protect her.”

“As a big fan of Tom’s, I knew all about the Poet franchise and couldn’t have been more stoked to be a part of it,” adds Tyler Posey. “And I was so humbled that he picked me to bring Poet to life. It was nothing short of a dream to work with him, let alone having him compliment me on my work and feeling like a true friend of his rather than just a work partner. He’s a real genuine, ambitious and inspiring person that I love calling a friend.”

DeLonge will continue his Poet Anderson work with the forthcoming ‘Poet Anderson …Of Nightmares’ novel, the first of three created in collaboration with New York Times author Suzanne Young.
