Anticipated: 2014 Q2 Live

By Tom Aylott

We may or may not have left our most anticipated gigs of the second quarter of the year a week late deliberately, with Brand New smashing London a new one previously skewing our list a bit. Still, there’s most of the three months left and loads more gigs and festivals to get your teeth stuck into, so check out our top seven most anticipated gigs / tours / festivals

Right now we’re getting ready to announce our next two club nights, so keep an eye out for those and come along this Friday to see Save Your Breath, Roam and Calls Landing…

Now, with that out of the way, here’s what we’re stoked about:

Alkaline Trio / Bayside

We haven’t had some Alkaline Trio action since Reading/Leeds last year, so we’re excited to see them out with Bayside, both touring new material on a UK run. Both new albums from the bands are excellent (check them out if you haven’t already), and we’ll see those attending the London show right at the front!

Pretty much our first festival of the year, Hit The Deck is where we really start getting excited about summer.

This year’s line up is headed up by the excellent Brand New, and with Gnarwolves, The Xcerts, Saves The Day, Nai Harvest and many more playing we couldn’t be more excited.

The Swellers

We started this list thinking it’d be tough to pick a top five and we’ve found it pretty much impossible to keep it to a top seven in the end as well. The Swellers are another band that released a mighty fine album recently and their return to the UK will see some of the loudest sing-alongs of the early summer!

The Menzingers at The Old Blue Last

A very special one off Menzingers show, celebrating the release of their new album, ‘Rented World’. That album is fucking brilliant and this show is sold out so we’ll see around a hundred of your there for fun times. We hope. If you’re lucky.

Real Friends / Modern Baseball / You Blew It!

One of the tours of the year because of the wealth of rising talent on displaying, the Real Friends / Modern Baseball / You Blew It! line up will be stopping at plenty of places across the UK, including playing a date for us in Cardiff. Don’t miss out on it, especially if you can’t make the festivals we’re chatting about next.

Slam Dunk Festival

Any list of things we’re looking forward to in April/May/June would be painfully empty without Slam Dunk. One of our favourite weekends of every year, Slam Dunk 2014 is packed with great bands again and we’re getting very excited. Our favourites from this year’s lineup are Motion City Soundtrack, Goldfinger, Real Friends, Gnarwolves, Jesse James and Marmozets. Excited!
