Check out the new video from Elk

Getting ready to head to the pub tonight? There’s not long left of the work day to go, and to help you pass the time we have a new video from Elk, post punkers hailing from Grimsby, Manchester and London. Check out the video for ‘Remedy’ below:

The track is taken from their upcoming LP ‘Herd Songs’ which is out on Sheffield indie label The Audacious Art Experiment in December. Glenn Fisher had this to say about the album:

“As the three of us live in different places – Manchester, London and Grimsby – a lot of our writing is done on trains, motorways and in the neon-lit industrial warehouses where we practice. So a lot of the lyrical content reflects that sense of displacement. There’s also a big lyrical influence from the art and literature we enjoy.

As for the music, I guess if David Byrne’s idea that the spaces in which you write influence the music you make, you could say that of us too. Each song on the record has a different feel, which is kind of deliberate. We didn’t want to just record ten similar songs, or resort to filler. We hope each song stands on it’s own. That said, I think we’re starting to develop an ‘Elk sound’ now – though we’ll let others define what that is.

Having the album itself finished is a big relief, as it’s taken us a while. Over the past year or two we’ve been chipping away at it with producer Karl Sveinsson at Queens Ark Audio in Manchester. Karl’s been a friend a long time and has been a big influence on the record. And having someone like George Atkins (who’s mastering the record at 80 Hertz) as a friend, is great.

The other great thing about having the record done now is that we can get out and about and play the songs live. We’re lining up some shows at the moment and looking to get as many more as we can. Hopefully we’ve got an exciting few months ahead.”

Elk will be playing live dates throughout the UK during December, January and February. For more on this and the band check out www.thebandelk.com
