First play of the new Ghost Of The Avalanche EP

By Ben Tipple

“For us, ‘This Is Earth’ is the culmination of 2 years on the road and figuring out who we are as a band,” says Nick Wiltone of Bath based punk duo Ghost Of The Avalanche, opening up about their new five-track EP.

Led by gritty riffs that hint at follow two-piece Royal Blood, yet inject a heavy dose of attitude, the new EP acts as an investigation into our current society. “It has clear themes reflecting what it is like to live in our modern times, our anxieties towards the people in charge as well as themes around life on the road as musicians and our experiences that have lead us to where we are now, on the edge of the release of what we believe to be our strongest music yet,” Wiltone continues.

Their sound has been cultivated on the road, and reflects their experiences. Having shared stages with the likes of Stiff Little Fingers, Pulled Apart By Horses, The Damned and ’68, Ghost Of The Avalanche have been exposed to some serious skill from which to draw inspiration.

There’s a darker sound underpinning ‘This Is Earth’, a sound mirrored in 2000 AD/Judge Dredd artist Shaky Kane’s illustration adorning the EP’s cover.

With ‘This Is Earth’ set for worldwide release on Friday 18th September, the duo have a number of live shows on the horizon, including support for The Ordinary Boys.
