First play of the new Tendrils EP

By Glen Bushell

While their are many sub-genres within the world of hardcore, and numerous ways of hyphenating the term to describe a desired sound, the best way to summarise some bands is to simply call them aggressive. This is the perfect adjective to describe Devon three-piece Tendrils, and today we are bringing you the first play of their terrifying new ‘Verse’ EP.

“We’re stoked to be releasing ‘Verse'” said the band when asked about the new EP. “We wanted to get a much bigger and heavier sound than our first EP, so we used a different studio in Plymouth, recorded it all live with Dan Couch and we think he nailed it for us”

Being all the way over in the West Country is the catalyst behind the huge sound on ‘Verse’, according to the band. “It can be quite difficult to get your music heard where we live” they continue, “so getting it out there as a proper release is awesome for us and we hope people get on board with it. We’re from a little seaside town in Devon where there is pretty much no desire for heavy music so we started the band to make some noise that we all wanted to listen to, taking influence from bands such as Converge, The Chariot, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Every Time I Die.”

‘Verse’ is certainly not for the faint of heart, and while Tendrils wear their influences proudly on their sleeves, the colossal sound that the three-piece create will inject something new into the UK hardcore scene. ‘Verse’ will be available digitally via Hope Lost Records on August 14th, and you can hear the entire thing a week early in the player below.
