Let LAGS exhilarate you with ‘A Push And A Rush’

By Ben Tipple

From the rhythmic opening that sees LAGS drummer Andrew Howe provide the backbone for the rest of the band’s call to arms, ‘A Push And A Rush’ is truly riotous. Building up with an anthemic force that references Refused in more than a mainland European dialect, the unsuspecting melody sideswipes seemingly out of nowhere. From here the track doesn’t relent, instead upping the ante and reaching towards a cataclysm that leaves you wanting more. Much more. The type of want that the full album is destined to satisfy.

“There’s a reason why this song is the opening track of the entire album,” the Italian post-hardcore outfit, completed by Antonio Canestri, guitarist Gianluca Lateana and bassist Daniele De Carli, explain. “We originally called the song ‘Satchel Charge’, but we changed it in ‘A Push And A Rush’ because we wanted to be more metaphorical, and we didn’t want to be misunderstand.”

“It’s a song about breaking the rules from the inside; no religious or political significations, lets be clear,” they extend. “It’s a metaphor of a metaphor, that’s why we won’t explain it too much.”

Behind all this, for LAGS it’s a call to action. It’s thunderous, highly charged and volatile, yet inclusive. As depicted in the video, available to view exclusively below, it’s a rallying call. A tantalising taste of things to come.

LAGS will release their debut full-length, ‘Pilot’, on the on the 6th November 2015 via To Lose La Track Records. For more on the band, head to Facebook.
