It’s Monday! We all hate Monday right? Well today we’re here to make your Monday a little easier with Strays – a new split EP from 4 acoustic artists from Chicago; Mike Petruccelli (Rapids, Tens) , Hi-Ho (Turnspit), Jason Douglass Swearingen (Turnspit) and Jason S Thompson (The Sky We Scrape). You can listen to the split below and read about each member of the split whilst you do it!

JASON DOUGLASS SWEARINGEN

“I am beyond humbled to be able to consider myself both peer and friend to the other amazing songwriters on this split. I like to say that I was born and bred between West Virginia and Chicago, and I think it shows on my songs here. Thanks for listening. It means the world to us!”

JASON S THOMPSON

“Hi, I’m Jason. No… the other Jason. I was asked by 3 people that are cooler than I am to be on this split, so that’s why I’m here.I normally sing and play guitar in The Sky We Scrape when I’m not taking pictures of my cats.”

HI-HO

“I write songs and half the time I’m not even sure what the hell it is I’m getting at with my words until much later. My tracks on STRAYS are sequenced to illustrate how I felt about a year ago, but I didn’t figure out they were all related until I was tracking them. I write about things that make me feel. I feel when I sing, and I feel when I listen to the songs by these talented dudes. So stoked for you all to hear these tunes, and I hope you feel something, too.”

MIKE PETRUCCELLI

This split has been a very positive and exciting experience for all of us as songwriters. We play in different bands and have different styles to our writing, but we all relate in a lot of ways to each other, and think that’s apparently in our handful of songs here. It’s really rewarding when you see something you’re working hard on come to fruition but it’s even more rewarding when you’ve accomplished it with close friends.

There is release show on Saturday, June 13 (https://www.facebook.com/events/1580552768890985/), where CDs will be available, the tracks will be also available for download on Bandcamp.
