New Video from Atiptoe

By Maryam Hassan

Nice-guy indie math-rockers Atiptoe recently signed with Failure By Design Records. Today we have an exclusive look at the new video for their track ‘Sir Real’.

The band have two new songs coming out soon, “Sir Real” and “Tripoli”. The were tracked earlier in 2014 at Stakeout Studios with super producer Chris Coulter (Arcane Roots, Emp!re, Swim Good, In Dynamics) and show a huge step up in both song-writing and overall musicianship. Instead of being balls-to-the-wall twiddly guitar lines non-stop the band dial it down a notch to focus more on the dynamism of the tracks, with a greater emphasis on Dave’s silky voice. A real step in the right direction, can’t wait to hear what comes next!

Check it out below:

Atiptoe currently has two EP’s under their belt; 2012’s “Marabunta EP” and 2013’s “Pages Apart”. With these two releases the band showed off both their technical ability and mastery of complex time signatures. Guitarist Iain Kerr’s maddening, effortless fretboard ability solidified the band as ones to watch in the math-rock community. This, combined with the smooth, soulful voice of vocalist Dave Sylvester and the rock-solid rhythm section provided by Adam Walton and Simon Treasure give the band a truly unique sound. Now a little older and a little wiser, the band are straight back on form with two new songs sounding bigger and better than ever.

The two tracks will be available on a split cassette release with Brighton instrumental Mathy Jazz-rock trio Patchwork Natives, who’re just mentally good at what they do. The release will be available digitally from August 25th via Failure By Design Records. Exclusive copies of the tape (complete with download card) will be available from the band on this summer’s “Atiptour”
