Playlist: Capdown choose their party anthems

By Ben Tipple

This week sees the start of the Jagermeister Music Tour, kicking off in Liverpool on the 18th December 2014. The eclectic line-up is all about having a good time – this year in particular – inviting Me First and the Gimme Gimmes to headline alongside The Skints, joined by Feed The Rhino, Animal Music, and boasting the reformation of UK legends Capdown.

Capdown’s mix of ska, punk and dub saw them take the underground by storm in the late 90s. Their tour ethic saw them continue on the road tirelessly until their disbandment in 2008, following the previous year’s ‘Wind Up Toys’. Having reformed on occasional to play specially selected gigs and festivals, Capdown couldn’t turn down the opportunity to play with party masters Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

As the band explain, this tour is an excuse for them to put their normal lives on hold and to celebrate the festive season with all their friends.

With that in mind, we asked Capdown for their ultimate party playlist – the tracks that help them celebrate. With Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, The Skints, Capdown, Feed The Rhino, Animal Music and Jagermeister on the road together, what else is there left to do?

Here’s vocalist and guitarist Keith Minter’s 5 best party tracks.

Operation Ivy – ‘Sound System’

Never fails to get people jumping. It’s so short you can get away with spinning it twice in a row!

Beastie Boys – ‘So Wha’Cha Want’

Beasties are always a winner at house parties as well as on a club system. This entire album ‘Check Your Head’ also used to be on repeat for days at a time in our old van back in the day too.

Prizna feat Demolition Man – ‘Fire’

Soundsystem fave in the early to mid nineties. Everyone’s top selection!

Capdown3

The Clash – ‘White Man in Hammersmith Palais’

Bounce the room with Joe and the boys’ ska masterpiece. Why is it that ‘everyone’ saw them on Hastings’ Pier?! Some of you are lying as you’d not all fit…

Capdown4

Rancid – ‘Time Bomb’

Even people who don’t like Rancid can’t help but love the classic that is time bomb. It’s… erm… timeless.
