Première of the Black Art video for ‘Life Stalker’

By Ben Tipple

Whiskey soaked and clouded in a haze of smoke. That’s the setting for the new video by Gloucestershire based five-piece Black Art. It’s the perfect accompaniment to the band’s gritty, visceral hardcore that takes a page out of books by the likes of Feed The Rhino by infusing guttural screams and heavy riffs with southern rock and roll. Their sound on ‘Life Stalker’ is reminiscent of early Gallows, Ghost of a Thousand or punk-and-rollers The Bronx.

Since forming in 2011, their music has seen them play alongside Last Witness, Palm Reader and Black Dogs. Black Art are now preparing to release their split with Leicester’s Surrender The Coast, available to pre-order now through Footloose Records. The split precedes the band’s next EP proper, due on the 6th October 2014.

Black Art play alongside ’68 (featuring Josh Scogin of Norma Jean and The Chariot) and Palm Reader on the 15th August in Basingstoke. They will also be announcing a full European tour in the near future.
