The new Speaking Tongues compilation is filled with some right good stuff

By Ben Tipple

Independent record label Speaking Tongues today unveil their second compilation, showcasing some of the most exciting music the grassroots scene has to offer. Officially released on Saturday 17th October, it comes as the label have spent the last twelve months working alongside the likes of Maycomb, The Gospel Youth, Spineless Yes Men, Nathan Detroit and Sean McGowan.

“The first year of Speaking Tongues has been a huge learning curve,” says label founder and head-honcho (and for trivia fans, former Punktastic Editor) Tom Aylott.

“This release marks the end of a year of experimentation where I’ve been able to work with some excellent bands, and this second compilation is packed with some of the finest bands around.”

“Helping out charitable causes and giving something back only is something that’s becoming a huge part of my life, and I’ll be donating all proceeds from this compilation to Médecins sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders,” Aylott adds. “MSF does amazing work around the world, and I’d like to support this work and help out in the wake of the deadly bombing of one of their hospitals in Afghanistan.”

Within its nineteen tracks sit Ducking Punches, Going Away Party, Midday Committee and Cool, as well as a solo outing by Mr Tom Aylott himself. In fact, every track on here is pretty much a massive tune. Remember not to just stream the record, but to donate by purchasing the compilation for a single British pound.
