The origin of London based melody driven rockers dirt is somewhat unconventional. Moving from Liverpool to the capital with the aim of building a band, Nikhil Aggarwal and Abdul Hasaballa held an unquenchable drive to get their music heard. Future auditions saw drummer Perry Sinclair and guitarist Dan Kidney join the fold.

Struggling to locate a suitable vocalist, dirt only came to be in November 2014 when former Taking Hayley vocalist Alistair Keenan joined the fold.

Thereafter, the band delved into 2015 with the release of their ‘Mirrors’ EP, turning some heads and seeing them play Takedown Festival following their runner-up position in the unsigned band competition. Their dedicated work ethic continues as they head to Camden Rocks (midday at the Purple Turtle) before setting up for a busy Summer.

Ahead of that, dirt are premiering the video for their latest track, ‘Insomnia’.

“We are super excited to finally share our new track ‘Insomnia’ with the world,” Keenan exclaims. “It’s been a short while since we have released new music and we are all excited to hear what people think of our new direction. ‘Insomnia’ is a song that really hits home hard for us as a band, a few of us struggle with anxiety and this track tries to address the day to day struggle of sleeping whilst still going over the day’s events, and the doubts that people have about their past actions.”

“The video is compiled of clips from our first show at the 02 Academy in Islington as well as a couple others from our first tour so this video is always going to mean something to us as the place where this all started out. It’s great to showcase our live energy too and we hope that this video will inspire some new fans to come down to a live show and join in the party!”
