HORSE The Band – Desperate Living

By paul

There aren’t too many bands as batshit crazy as HORSE The Band. To say they’re an acquired taste would be a massive understatement; they’re definitely one of those marmite bands that you love or hate and there’s definitely no middle ground. ‘Desperate Living’ is more of the same from a band that love to do everything different. this record features classical music, triangles and even elements of rap. It’s a cacophony of noise, weirdness and, well, interesting music. Because that’s the one thing you could never say about HORSE – they’re fucking interesting if nothing else. ‘Shapeshift’ and ‘HORSE The Song’ sound like songs written by people that aren’t quite right in the head, but this is such a varied and crazy album that it’s one everyone should listen to at least once, even if it’s just for intrigue value. I can’t say this is the band’s best work and I can’t say I’m going to listen to it in the long-term, but it’s a daft record that will get the blood flowing. Listen, don’t take it too seriously and enjoy.
