Meet Me In St Louis – Promise Me That We’ll Never Be Like Them…EP

By paul

Meet Me In St Louis win the award for longest EP name ever. I’m way too lazy to type out the 25-words that make up the ‘Promise Me That We’ll Never Be Like Them…EP’, needless to say the title is actually a whole four sentences long. So it’s no real surprise that there’s an arty element to this band, who very clearly enjoy their angular riffage and indie-rock (the genre formerly known as emo, before the turn of the 21st century anyway). For some reason Meet Me In St Louis actually remind me a little of This Ain’t Vegas, all sharp guitars which cut through some odd time signatures.

There’s no doubting the talent from these guys, even if it’s not really my thing. ‘I Am Champagne and You Are Shit’ and ‘Why Thankyou, Suzie’ are two very impressive pieces of music, and well worth visiting the band’s website to sample. Three track CDs are usually out there to help get gigs and get the word out, and MMISL have certainly hit all the right notes with this self-released disc. I know little about the band, but something tells me that may change in the future.
