UK based Bombed Out Records has announced an all day event taking place in Leeds on January 26th, featuring not one, not two, but 11 bands on the list, with proceeds going to a local charity:
“January 26th at Joseph’s Well, Chorley Lane, Leeds. 3:30pm start, only £4 in.
Everybody Is Going To Die play instrumental indie-rock/post-rock and have known to rip it up live. they should get the day off to a fine start. Good Riddance influenced punk rock next from East Burkshire’s Twofold who’ve recently added a 2nd guitarist for added rock. This Ain’t Vegas will be back in Leeds to add some Q And Not U / Fugazi styled poppy post-rock to the procedings. I’m sure you know of Nathaniel Green by now, heartfelt acoustic numbers with keys that’ll bring the calm before the storm. Newcastle’s Skip Day Toner play political DC influenced noise – Dischord meets Albini perhaps. The Mercy Suite are ex-Dropnose/Astream playing that Swedish-style skate punk but with a dark emotive edge. they’ll be followed by Blocko who are coming all the way up from London. Hooton 3 Car meets Broccoli styled punk rock. Leeds own bandana thrash (with tunes) band, Fig. 4.0 will be up next. you know what to expect by now. Eighty Six follow and will be bringing the pace back down again with some sweet Jawbreaker influenced rock. penultimate band of the day, Dugong, will then mix things up with a dash of punk, a smattering of post-rock and some sweet indie-rock before Joe Ninety close the night with a bunch of infectious, punk rock anthems. one of the finest punk bands in the country and always a treat live.
the money raised will be going to Martin House in Wetherby, a Hospice for critically and terminally ill children. as the majority of their funding (around 80%) comes through fund raising events and donations we figured we could do a little something to help. please come along!
