Hit The Lights vocalist Nick Thompson has been forced to take a break from the current Pure Noise Records tour due to a chest infection contracted on the flight over to the UK. The band revealed in a statement that Fastlane’s Ben Phillips will be taking over the vocal responsibilities until Thompson has recovered.
“Hey everyone, it’s Nick. Tonight we had to cancel our show last minute in Nottingham due to illness,” they said on their official Facebook page.
“I caught some type of bug on the plane from Japan to the UK. While I got over my fever/aches over the past few days I’ve developed a chest infection that I just can’t seem to shake. Today in Nottingham I felt worse than ever, I couldn’t hit easiest notes and I began coughing up some not-so-fun stuff, including a little blood. We made a last second decision to call the show off, and we’d like to apologize to all the people who were looking forward to seeing us, the promoter, and of course, all the bands we’re currently on tour with. I’ve never had to do this before, but at this point I need to seek medical attention so the entire tour isn’t lost.”
“I’ll be taking a small sabbatical to recover and our very good friend Ben Phillips will be taking over vocal duties for Hit The Lights for the next couple shows. Ben sang in a band that HTL has grown up loving called “Fastlane” and is more than capable of handling my vocal duties. We’ll keep everyone up to date on my situation, again, my deepest apologies, I hate to let anyone down. I’ll be returning to the mic as soon as I can, please come out to the shows and show your support for us, Light You Up, Forever Came Calling and Four Year Strong – they still bring more rock than you will ever need in one night.”
The tour will continue with Light You Up, Forever Came Calling and Four Year Strong, plus Hit The Lights with Fastlane’s vocalist.
