Borne out of the Seattle punk scene and his former band Waxwing, singer-songwriter Rocky Votolato recently released his ‘Sawdust and Shavings’ EP, ten years since his ‘Makers’ debut. The EP sees Votolato rework material from last year’s ‘Hospital Handshakes’, including a duet with Emily Kokal of Warpaint on the track of the same name.
Votolato teamed up with Berlin filmmaker Luca Lucchesi for the video for ‘Sawdust and Shavings’, the EP’s title track.
“The new EP deals with overcoming and casting out demons, but there is a light at the end of tunnel in these songs,” Votolato explains. “It’s really about recovery, healing, and the renewed sense of purpose we can find after hard experiences.”
‘Sawdust and Shavings’ is available via Glitterhouse Records. Rocky Votolato will be touring the UK early next month
