Run For Cover drop Whirr following transphobic tweets

By Ben Tipple

Run For Cover Records have dropped shoegaze inspired punk outfit Whirr following a tirade of transphobic tweets aimed at Olympia, Washington based G.L.O.S.S.

Beginning with a simply yet unnecessary “LOL @ G.L.O.S.S” tweet, Whirr continued with a series of communications mocking the transgender band, including describing G.L.O.S.S. as a “bunch of boys running around in panties making shitty music.”

Following rightful criticism from a wealth of music fans and bands alike, Run For Cover Records took to Twitter to voice their response to Whirr.

“We as individuals and as a label are accepting of all people and require the same from the bands and people we work with…,” the first tweet stated, followed by, “We will not be working with Whirr from this point on and do not support that behavior in anyway. We will post a full statement tomorrow.”

“G.L.O.S.S. is awesome and crucially important and we need more bands like them,” the label concluded.

Whirr released their most recent album via Graveface Records, who are yet to comment.

Listen to the five-track demo by G.L.O.S.S. via BandCamp.
