The Rentals will be releasing their first album since 1999’s ‘Seven More Minutes’ next year via Polyvinyl Records. The band, founded by former Weezer bassist Matt Sharp, released two full length albums back in the 90s before disbanding until 2005. They continued to release a number of EPs including their ‘Songs About Time’ trilogy.
Throughout their history, The Rentals have maintained a rotating member line-up, in-keeping with their name. The new record will feature Sharp on vocals, synth and bass alongside Jess Wolfe and Holly Leassig on vocals, Ryen Slegr on guitar, Lauren Chipman on viola and piano, and Patrick Carney on drums. Their sound has seen them lay distortion and strings over simple melodies for an original and independent feel.
More details are to be announced in the new year.
