The Van Pelt to reissue first two albums

By Aaron Lohan

The Van Pelt have announced that they’ll be reissuing their first two albums, 1996 debut album ‘Stealing from Our Favorite Thieves’ and 1997’s ‘Sultans of Sentiment’.

The cult indie/emo luminaries will be remastering both records from the original tapes and re-releasing them on vinyl, download and CD on the 12th May through Spanish label La Castanya. This goes hand in hand with the latter record’s twentieth anniversary.

To coincide with the announcement, the band are streaming remastered versions of ‘His Steppe Is My Prairie’ and ‘We Are the Heathens’, along with a rarely seen live video of the band playing ‘Nanzen Kills a Cat’ in Detroit in 1997, at Brooklyn Vegan. The band have also hinted that they’re currently working on a tour for ‘Sultans of Sentiment”s twentieth anniversary.
