Tom’s tip for 2012 – Gnarwolves

By Tom Aylott

At the end of 2010, we recommended that the band to watch for 2011 was the mighty MARMOZETS, and though we’re not taking any credit for anything but a good tip, they’ve since gone on to play Hevy last August, tour with FOUR YEAR STRONG, THE BLACKOUT and HYRO DA HERO, and recently released new EP ‘Vexed’ to wide acclaim before announcing an appearance at Download festival this year.

This year, though a bit late with our tip for 2012, we’re going to recommend a three piece from Brighton just as firmly by saying that GNARWOLVES are our pick for the 2012.

The band play a scrappy style of punk that won’t be too unfamiliar to Fest-goers, but one that’s steeped in British rock roots – their dual vocals gives the relatively basic but well executed instrumentation an unpolished charm.

Still in their infancy as a band, they’ve released one EP so far with an eye to record another later this month, and as we recently streamed their debut EP ‘Fun Club’, here’s another chance to get your ears around it:

We don’t think it’ll be too long before they start turning many heads, and as they get out on tour more often, they’ll be sure to put smiles on faces as the year goes on.
