Bury Tomorrow – ‘Earthbound’

By Adam Rosario

Bury Tomorrow have been stuck in a cycle of consistently touring their last album ‘Runes’. Whilst a good album, their live sets have become a bit predictable. What isn’t predictable is how big their new album will make them. ‘Earthbound’ is set to make them one of the premier metal acts in Britain.

Starting off with a trademark Dani Winter-Bates scream, ‘The Eternal’ shows how much progression has been undertaken by the band. Dani’s screams have never sounded better & the cohesion and ease that his screams lock in with clean vocalist and guitarist Jason Cameron is astounding. Cameron’s voice soars throughout this album and the move to put more emphasis on him is one which pays off in spades.

The three singles ‘Last Light’, ‘Earthbound’ and ‘Memories’ are three of the strongest songs the band have written & look set to be favourites live, with three enormous choruses. The album is 10 songs long but every single song could and should be released as a standalone single. There’s not a weak track throughout, with incredible guitar riffs and melody in abundance. On ‘301’ Bury Tomorrow have brought in Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed to add an extra layer and his vocals make the band take a more hardcore turn throughout the latter part of the song. ‘The Burden’ and ‘For aid’ are also notable songs in a list of notable songs.

This being their fourth album, there’s some expectation for Bury Tomorrow to deliver. They’re not the young kids on the block now, celebrating 10 years together, the Southampton mob are expected to prove their worth in the British Rock & Metal world. ‘Earthbound’ will shatter all expectations and will see the band evolve and grow to a new height. This is an early contender for album of the year and should be in consideration for best metal album this decade. It’s that good.
