Tonight Don Broco are headlining Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach, with the help of Mallory Knox and Hey Vanity. The show sold out quite a while ago, and tickets are like gold dust to see some of Britain’s finest young rock bands. First up are newcomers Hey Vanity, who do a fantastic job of warming up the crowd. They play songs off their new EP ‘Breathe, Bleed, Grow’, and it’s clear to see they have an incredibly promising future ahead of them. Keep an eye out.
Next up are the rapidly ascending Mallory Knox. Their recently released album ‘Signals’ has propelled them into the limelight, and rightly so, because it’s bloody brilliant. Their live show backs them up: the crowd already know the words, and tonight is most definitely a success. Ending on the incredible ‘Lighthouse’, Mallory Knox will definitely be welcomed back to South Wales with open arms. And next time, it should be for their own headline show.
Last but not least are tonight’s headliners, Don Broco, who have managed to sell out every single show on this tour. They’ve worked hard to get here, and there aren’t many bands who can put on such a great live show. Frontman Rob Damiani has an incredible amount of swagger and the whole band are on fire every time they hit a stage. Not only do they entertain, but they have disgustingly catchy songs too (in the best way possible).
Tonight’s highlights include massive anthem ‘Priorities’ (complete with ‘the walk’), unbelievably great new single ‘Whole Truth’ and oldies like ‘Thug Workout’ and ‘Dreamboy’. Don Broco are a band who have the full package: the songs, the entertainment value and the look. Their star is rising, and you won’t get many more opportunities to see them in such small venues again. 100% backed.
