Adam Betts reveals ‘Drumbones’ from forthcoming percussion led album

Three Trapped Tigers’ drummer Adam Betts is preparing to release a drum-led album, entitled ‘Colossal Squid’ and due for release on the 25th November through Blood and Biscuits.

In anticipation, Betts has released the unique sounding ‘Drumbones’, which takes small elements of his main project and amps it up to Aphex Twin proportions. All the while, the drums lead the charge.

‘Colossal Squid’ was recorded in one live take, retaining the alternative feel. “It clicked that this was the way to represent the material in the best way possible – performed entirely live, as it happened,” Betts explains. “Any “mistakes”, any looseness, felt like a step away from the feeling of material being written with the click of a mouse at a computer. It’s really a punk album with tape delays instead of guitar chords.””

“So much electronic music has had concerns with performance – how much of the amazing programmed music can be recreated live? For me music has been so much about the connection between the performers onstage and the audience.”
