Cult 90s indie band, recognised as playing a key part in the emergence of emo, Braid are set to release their first album in 16 years on July 8th (US) and July 14th (UK) via Topshelf Records. ‘No Coast’ follows 1998’s ‘Frames & Canvas’.
Following the band’s departure in 1999, three of the members went on to form Hey Mercedes, while Chris started The Firebird Band and Lucid Records.
Having reformed in 2012, the band are now set to follow their ‘Closer to Closed’ EP, and their ‘Frame & Canvas’ tour with 12 brand new tracks.
“I think we feel like we want this to be an introduction to Braid more than a follow-up to previous material,” Chris Broach says about ‘No Coast’. “We wanted to capture the spirit and dynamic tension that comes from having two guys up front that have a lot to say and a rhythm section that helps shape the songs. We spent a lot of time looking to where we could give each instrument its own space on the record – everything has its place, and its very deliberate.”
Pre-orders of ‘No Coast’ are available now, for which fans will receive an instant download of their new track ‘Bang’. The track is also available to stream via SoundCloud.
