Death Spells confirm album details

By Ben Tipple

Having announced their comeback last week, Death Spells have now unveiled full release details for their forthcoming LP. ‘Nothing Above, Nothing Below’ will be available from the 29th July through Vagrant Records.

One half of the industrial duo, James Dewees (of Coalesce, The Get Up Kids and Reggie and the Full Effect) says the following: “Death Spells is very different from anything we have done in the past collectively. It’s noisy, it’s angry, it’s beauty, it’s the monster you don’t want to look at yet can’t look away.”

“This Death Spells record has been something I’ve wanted for 4 years,” said Frank Iero, Dewees’ partner in crime. β€œThe initial band started back in 2012 in an apartment in North Hollywood California, and because life sometimes gets in the way it has taken a back seat to other projects James and I have been working on. But I knew I could not go any further until these songs were revealed, and now death spells’ time has finally come.”

The band are touring the August, taking to the UK, Russia and New York City, United States. The band’s latest track, ‘Why Is Love So Disasterous?’ – originally appearing in demo form back in 2013 – premiered on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show last night. Listen to it here, skipping to the 46 minute mark.
