By Maryam Hassan

Throughout December we at PT:HQ are bringing you end of year lists from bands, labels and promoters. We’ll have a new one for you everyday so keep your eyes peeled for them! See all the lists here.

Black Foxxes

Top 3 albums of 2014

Mark: Pup – Pup

This band came out of nowhere and completely floored me. In my opinion they’re everything thats right about music at the moment. Its honest/raw and intoxicating. On top of that, their videos have been absolutely incredible.

Ant: Ryan Adams – Self titled

To me it’s a perfect album in every way. It ruled my iTunes for the best part of two months and I’ve even bought it for my mother!

Tris: Biffy Clyro – Similarities

Biffy Clyro never cease to amaze, providing dynamics and heart throughout.

Top 3 songs of 2014

Mark: The War On Drugs – Red Eyes

I’ve always known about TWOD, but never really gave them enough time. I heard them perform Red Eyes on Letterman and was instantly hooked. His gear is sensational and he’s clearly a perfectionist, this song was in my head for months.

Ant: Royal Blood – Out of The Black

The first time this song entered my ears I was instantly floored. Seeing their performance of this song at T in the Park on YouTube was great, I can’t even begin to imagine how completely face melting it would have been to actually be there.

Tris: Ben Howard – I Forget Where We Were

I love how humble and graceful Ben Howard is, and the title track from his new album is a thoughtful spine-tingler.

Top pick for 2015

Mark: Wolf Alice

I don’t know what else to say about this band other than they’ve nailed every aspect of the package. If they keep writing songs like Moaning Lisa Smile they will have a huge career ahead of them.

Ant: The Xcerts

I’ve been a fan of this band since 2008 and they never disappoint live. The songs on their new album “Their is Only You” have exceeded my expectations above and beyond. In 2015 the world needs to know this band.

Tris: Nothing But Thieves

There’s a lot of hype around these guys at the moment, and all of it’s justified. We’re really excited to see where these guys can go.
