End of Year Thirty Six: Pacer

By Maryam Hassan

Throughout December we at PT:HQ are bringing you end of year lists from bands, labels and promoters. We’ll have a new one for you everyday so keep your eyes peeled for them! See all the lists here.

PACER – Mark Pavey

Top 3 Albums

The Lawrence Arms – Metropole

Metropole manages something few albums can and that is to pluck at your nostalgia for the bands’ other albums whilst still being diverse and interesting enough to sound new

Joyce Manor – Never Hung over again

I love the production on this album. It’s kinda warm and listenable yet jagged and loud all at the same time.

Restorations – LP3

Restorations once again issue forth an album that takes the listener through a journey of soundscapes that only stops when then choose to.

Top 3 Songs

Sundials – Stun Spore

Those woahs…they make me want to start singing at the top of my lungs whether I’m in a crowded tube carriage or sat along at my desk. KICK (an EP) would be my release of the year for sure.

RVIVR – Goodbyes

So many hooks!

Creeper – Gloom

Sums up everything I like about Creeper – Such a good chorus!

Top Pick

Creeper – ex-OTDH dudes continue to build on the sound they developed in previous bands, distilling their core sound and themes. 2014 saw the release of their first EP and I look forward to hearing what they have in store for 2015.
