Fortuna POP!, home to the likes of Martha, Joanna Gruesome and The Spook School, will soon be no more. Founder Sean Price makes the understated announcement in a programme for last weekend’s Indietracks festival, hidden at the end of an ode to the event.
“…after twenty years, 200 releases, a mountain of debt and very little sleep, Fortuna POP! is drawing to a close,” Price writes, having founded the label in 1995.
Having championed various oddities in the British and international underground scene, the closure of Fortuna POP! leaves a gap difficult to be filled. Punktastic would like to use this opportunity to wish Price all the best in his future endeavours.
So @fortunapop is finishing after 20 glorious years. Thanks so much Sean for all your support for Indietracks 💗💗🚂🚂 pic.twitter.com/32qMbW42nM
