Gallows are loud – so something we knew already then…

By paul

Submitted: “Watford maniacs Gallows hailed as ‘the future of punk rock’ have smashed all previous world records set for the loudest band, bass stack and guitar stack. On Friday 8th June in a secret location outside of Birmingham, Gallows guitarists Laurent Barnard and Steph Carter teamed up with The Brighton Institute of Modern Music and Laney Amps to set a new world record. The guitarists powered up and plugged into a mammoth 12 heads (6 Laney GH100L and 6 TT100H) running through 12 cabs (Laney TT412S). They then proceeded to play for sixty seconds at 132.5 decibels! (logged by a DB meter) Video footage and pictures of the record can be viewed at www.laney.co.uk 120 decibels is the threshold of pain and 130 is equivalent to standing next to a jet engine! Previously the record for loudest band and loudest bass stack was set by Manowar at 129.5 and 130 decibels. Laurent Barnard said “Gallows are louder than Manowar and that’s all that matters!””
