Goldfinger gig IS go!

Finally we have it sorted! Goldfinger WILL be playing their mysterious gig in London on May 13 after Punktastic helped to get the mystery solved.

As we broke the news late last week, the band were booked to play the gig as a special one-off to celebrate the release of their new CD, ‘Open You Eyes‘.

But we were contacted by the band who admitted they had no idea about the dates… so, is the phantom gig on or not?

Well, Punktastic can confirm that it is! Thanks to Brad of the Goldfinger website, all the band’s fans will be able to rock out on May 13 after Darrin‘s wife helped sort it all out!

Brad posted this on the Punktastic forums:

“Hi, i was the one who caused this whole thing, i asked Simon Clayton if they were here and he said “i doubt it” but i got in contact with Vicky Pfeiffer, Darrin‘s wife and asked if she could phone him for me. She did do, and this is her reply..

Brad, As far as I know, they will be in the U.K./Europe from May 11th to the 16th. I believe they have a show in London and another in Cologne, Germany. They are going over to do some pre-press for the album. I just got off the phone with Darrin and that’s what he told me, so I’m just relaying that to you. He was unsure about the exact show dates. Unfortunately, I will not be coming. I would LOVE to go to London again. I’ve only been there once, but I had the best time. I was only there for 3 days and I crammed all of the sightseeing in that I could.

“Apparently, the new label Jive! booked these shows then there was a delay telling the band/site people so thats why we didnt know. I’ll be there backstage, i’ll be on stage hopefully, so if anyone see’s me say hi!”

So that clears that all up! Thanks go to Brad for his hard work in solving the mystery.

Paul, otherwise known as Sav, is quite possibly the only member of the Punktastic team to actually have a proper job. But don't hold that against him. He's actually a proper journalist, (a reporter for a daily northern paper) and so adds a bit of credence to the team. Except you wouldn't think that by reading his reviews. Maybe somebody should tell him that it is quality and not quantity that counts! Sav actually ended up working for Punktastic after meeting Nick at university, and the pair bonded over all things punk rock. Another guitarist, he also "writes a lot of songs about relationships, and how mine went wrong." Oh, and he loves the Ataris, if you hadn't already noticed. In his spare time he worships at the church of Kris Roe... Other fave bands include: MxPx, New Found Glory, Blink 182, Weezer, Midtown, Reel Big Fish, The Get Up Kids, Alkaline Trio, NOFX, Green Day, Deftones, Lit and Silverchair to name but a few. Hobbies include, sleeping, drinking, eating fish and supporting Grimsby Town FC. But hey, somebody has to.
