Great Cynics have unveiled ‘Beach Access’, taken from a flexidisc available with all merch purchases on their current UK and mainland Europe run with Jeff Rosenstock. In typical Great Cynics fashion, it’s a short slice of indie-punk goodness, carrying a heavier message than some of their other recent material.
“‘Beach Access’ was a harder song to write than anything on âI Feel Weirdâ,â vocalist and guitarist Giles Bidder explains, âit took a while before it sounded right. It’s about feeling paralysed with anxiety, feeling disconnected with what’s around you. When you use up all your energy on being scared, you’re left with no energy to do what you know would make you feel fulfilled. The name is from a photo I took of Bob a few months ago, which is also the cover.â
The flexidisc is also available via the Specialist Subject store.
